The Masters
The Powell & Pressburger Pages

Dedicated to the work of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger and all the other people, both actors and technicians who helped them make those wonderful films.

A lot of the documents have been sent to me or have come from other web sites. The name of the web site is given where known. If I have unintentionally included an image or document that is copyrighted or that I shouldn't have done then please email me and I'll remove it.

I make no money from this site, it's purely for the love of the films.

Fascinating trivia (and any goofs) connected with the film

- Originally planned as a musical (but never filmed as one as some sources say), and was to have been co-produced by Samuel Goldwyn which would have helped its distribution in the United States. When he pulled out, Alexander Korda (the executive behind London Films) sued him. The movie was finally distributed in the States by Carroll Pictures in black and white only.

- The schooner called The Daydream in the film was really The Nellie Bywater, owned and operated by Richard England who plays the schooner captain in the film.
