The Masters
The Powell & Pressburger Pages

Dedicated to the work of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger and all the other people, both actors and technicians who helped them make those wonderful films.

A lot of the documents have been sent to me or have come from other web sites. The name of the web site is given where known. If I have unintentionally included an image or document that is copyrighted or that I shouldn't have done then please email me and I'll remove it.

I make no money from this site, it's purely for the love of the films.

Trips to Boston, Lincs (OOOAIM)

Many of the location work for One of Our Aircraft is Missing (1942) was done in and around Boston in Linconshire and the area of East Anglia shown on some of maps as "Parts of Holland" because of the number of canals and windmills that are to be found there (or were in the 1940s). These were built by people from the Netherlands and some of the buildings in the area have a Dutch style to them which made the area perfect for location work to represent the Netherlands. Of course it was impossible to film in the Netherlands in 1942, the Nazi occupiers would have objected.
