ACT Location Walk, Fordwich, 27st August 2023

11 folks and one dog gathered at Fordwich Church on Sunday, 27 August 2023 for the 29th almost annual A Canterbury Tale walk. It was the first Fordwich walk since 2017. We were joined by Philip Lewis, church custodian who told us some of the building's fascinating history - including an apparent visit from William Shakespeare in 1605! We went on to Fordwich Town Hall which has had some investment since our last visit and we got a demonstration of the old winch that was used to bring cargo off the river. Courtesy of Philip Lewis we then got hot drinks and biscuits at the Old Schoolhouse, the village's community centre before moving on to High Street and King Street. A collection was taken for the Kent charity Porchlight (£35.50 was raised). A great day out!
